The allied softball team is off to a competitive start this season, showing steady improvement through its first four games. After opening the year to a tough 19-11 loss to Wheaton on March 26, the Wildcats quickly regrouped and responded with back-to-back wins.

WJ earned its first win of the season with a dominant 9-0 shutout over Blair on April 8, highlighting both strong defense and consistent hitting. The team carried that momentum into the next game against Whitman, where an explosive offensive performance led to a 17-10 win on April 14. The Cats also beat Einstein in a 14-9 win on April 23, improving the Wildcats to 3-1 on the season.

“We beat Whitman 17-10. I got two hits and played third base. It was very fun,” freshman James Nguyen-Wright said.

Beyond the results, the early stretch has highlighted the team’s resilience and ability to adjust. After giving up 19 runs in the season opener, the Cats tightened up defensively and showed more consistency at the plate, turning early mistakes into opportunities.

With confidence building, the team now looks ahead to their final regular season game against Rockville on Tuesday, April 28

“I get to pitch and hit,” senior Maddie Beins said. “I have had a lot of fun this season.”

Allied softball appears to be finding its rhythm, turning an early-season lesson into strong on-field performances.
