The WJ golf team has a long-held reputation of being one of the best teams in the county, and this year is no exception.  The team got off to a slow start but has recently improved, including a win over Walt Whitman, Quince Orchard and Northwest in a match earlier this season. In that match, senior Noah Moss shot a 33, receiving the top score of any Wildcat golfer.  Over the summer, Moss committed to the University of Connecticut to play division one golf.

“I really liked the facilities, coaches, and the schedule at [UConn],” Moss said.

The Wildcats are looking to be the best team in the county. The team counts on key seniors Jordan Bobb, Taso Scilaris and Moss to lead the underclassmen to victory. Scilaris is also looking to play college golf at Georgetown University.

“I have a good chance of walking on at Georgetown,” Scilaris said.  

For now, the team’s main focus is on the current season. 

“The goal is to place at the top of the county for the team,” Scilaris said. “Also I hope I can be the best individual in the county.”

WJ’s biggest competition this year might be the Churchill Bulldogs, as they are a likely target to be in the 3aA/4aA finals in College Park, MD.

“Churchill is one of the best teams in the state,” Moss said. “They will be our hardest opponent.”

While the team will also look for production from underclassmen Zach Cooper and Spencer Brody, the team will surely depend on senior leadership to carry them to the state finals this year.
