Junior Grant Levins sprints down the track. “I’m here to try out because I love the sport of track and field and I’m working on my 800 [meter] time. Just trying to get better,” Levins said.

Freshman Grant Nelson takes a break to drink some water. “I’m trying out because I did cross country last season and really enjoyed it,” Nelson said.

Students run back and forth across the field at tryouts. “One of my favorite sports is track and I feel like it is a good community to get involved in,” freshman Sylvia Taraska said.

Freshman Kai Stroud stretches in preparation for tryouts. “I’m trying out because I wanted to train my speed,” Stroud said.

Senior Gideon Gotiangco leads the pack as the athletes get ready for the first tryout of the season. “I joined track and field this year because I had done it for the past three years and it seemed like the next step for me,” Gotiangco said.

Track and field coach Bryan Hoffman observes as students participate in warm-ups. “We have a lot of new faces that came out so far this year for tryouts so I’m really just excited to get them engaged,” Hoffman said. “We have some really good returning athletes that have really started to step up as leaders so I’m excited to see them get into that role more.”

Freshman Mili Gladstone runs laps with a group of other students. “Track and field is a fun way to connect to people and find friends while doing athletic things,” Gladstone said.
