As many already know, March Madness is the biggest college basketball tournament of the year. The top 64 NCAA teams compete to win the finale of the college basketball season.
March is the time of the year where every college basketball fan puts their sports knowledge and luck to the test by participating in and predicting the outcomes of the March Madness tournament hoping to win big money. While most people look forward to the championship round to see who will take it all, some like to focus on the individual games leading up to it and pay close attention to their success in their bracket.
“Nothing compares to the thrill of cheering on the games, hoping for a successful bracket,” senior Will Dash said.
There are many ways for people to participate in March Madness leagues. For example, you can enter your bracket for free to be able to earn one billion dollars for Warren Buffet’s billion dollar perfect bracket challenge. Or, you could join a league with a small number of people and enter money into the collective pot with a chance to win money in a more realistic way.
Many WJ students have already planned out their moves for this year’s March Madness tournament.
“I plan to enter my bracket into a couple leagues with friends and obviously Warren Buffet’s perfect bracket challenge for the big bucks,” junior Thomas Poliseno said.
On the other hand, some students love watching the games, but would rather create their own bracket with no money on the line to focus on enjoying the games without the fear that they are going to lose money.
“My plan this year is to make a bracket for myself, but not place any money on the line because I can still have fun without losing money,” junior Dan Avillo said.
Some students are preparing themselves for all the worst scenarios.
“I’m saving up money so I can go all out this year,” Poliseno said.
Although this might seem crazy, March Madness comes with many highs and lows, and the lows can be very expensive.
Many WJ students are excited for this year’s March Madness and there are many ways for students to enjoy participating in their yearly traditions for March Madness in hopes to profit from their brackets.
