Some students classify Halloween as their favorite holiday for many different reasons. Some love the candy, some love scary movies, but I personally love to dress up. Dressing up, getting ready and seeing all of your friends is exhilarating; especially seeing all of the different costumes.
With Halloween being on a Thursday this year, we got to see a preview of some of the costumes the previous weekend, while others had more time to prepare or gain some more inspiration for the upcoming weekend. The costumes do not fail to disappoint with the creative and unique styles that this year’s costumes have already shown.
Every year, picking out the costume becomes a game: figuring out what you and your friends want to be or what are the trends this year. Last year, there was a common theme of police officers, inmates, the army and construction workers. This “Halloweekend,” there seemed to be a trend of Disney princesses, Star Wars, Greek gods and fairies. The creative costumes really flourished this year; I didn’t see a single person outside of a group costume matching.
After each year the trends noticeably change; I feel as if each year the trends shift from more scandalous costumes, which can be immodest. But this year, even though there were some out-there costumes, in some ways, they were more classy and put together.
With teenagers, you can only expect so much, but this year the costumes seem up to par, including ones that differ from previous years. Normally you tend to see some of the same costumes recycled over the years, but this year due to new trends cycling on social media there were a lot of unique costumes.
