Walter Johnson Swim and Dive has met expectations early on in their highly anticipated 2016-17 campaign. Through a preseason scrimmage and two divisional meets, WJSD has started off very well against two tough division competitors, Churchill and Whitman respectively. After WJSD was slated to compete in their third head-to-head meet Saturday against Wootton, but the meet was later called off and set for a later due to snow. Now, WJSD is expected to participate next this Saturday with a matchup against Richard Montgomery, a team boasting the defending boys swimming state champions. There is some uncertainty heading into Saturday however, as there is another high possibility of snow which could mar the possibility of a meet Saturday. One thing that can be certain though is that the head-to-head meet will be a must watch. The meet will be a huge first test for WJSD this season, but with some highly skilled swimmers, such as Abe Kim, Timmy Ellett, Celine Nugent, and Katie Ellett, WJSD has a much higher chance for success against these top tier teams. WJSD’s next meet comes a week from Saturday against BCC.
