Soccer has been junior Sid Scale’s life for a while now. It’s his first year on the team, and he has not let his unfamiliarity slow him, making varsity with a breeze. He’s helped the team with an assist so far this season.
Scale’s love for the sport began in elementary school when he joined a recreational team with his friend. He began taking soccer seriously around late middle school. His positive experiences in his early stages of playing have led him to join the school team.
After a great season last year, but falling to BCC in the playoffs, Scale has high hopes and will put in his best effort to push the Wildcats past the Barons this year.
Scale’s best memory from his soccer career was when their team celebrated the ending of a season with a couple other teams at a dinner. He enjoyed connecting with the other players and listening to their experiences. Scale recognizes the importance of bonding with teammates and takes every chance he can to go hang out with them.
“Sid is a great teammate. He brings energy to the team that helps get everyone in a good mood,” junior center midfielder Leo Holma said.
Meeting new people is a vital element to Scale’s enjoyment of soccer. With the experience he has, he’s met a ton of lifelong friends along his journey through junior year of high school. He also enjoys and appreciates the hard work that is needed to enhance the skills necessary to keep up with the higher level players.
“He’s a positive person who keeps everyone happy and he’s always working as hard as possible,” junior centerback David Tsaava said.
Scale takes spirit to the next level wherever he goes. He is always leading the Wildcats’ student section at the football games to get everyone hyped up. He has been seen numerous times crowd surfing throughout the home games to get all the Wildcats involved in the spirit. This translates to the soccer field as well, as he is always keeping his teammates’ heads up. Scale has proven to be a motivator and teammate throughout his years.
