Schools all over MoCo come to together celebrate the 11th annual Minorty Scholars Retreat

Juniors Victoria Rojas and Laura Silva put their handprint on the wall as one of the many activities at the retreat. The Minority Scholars Program wanted to convey the message of standing together as one and by doing that they asked all the participants to put their handprint on the wall.

Northwest High School step team gives a powerful and exciting performance and exciting performance. “I think the Northwest step team’s performance was amazing, they were great, they were in sync, they so entertaining and had so much power and energy, it gave you energy just watching them,” senior Imani Safari said.

WJ students hosted the 11th annual retreat on March 19. Students went all out to rep their school as schools in attendance were called on.

Seniors Makayla Florian and Joyce Ohana helped run the opportunity gap and levels of racism workshop where they played an activity that showed how impactful the opportunity gap is. “It allows students to recognize bias and avoid developing oversimplified ideas of intelligence connected to a certain type of peer in comparison to another,” Ohana said.
