This season has been one of the craziest ever in college basketball history. Duke, Michigan, Indiana and many other teams lost this year when they were ranked number one in the country. The trend for this year’s college basketball season is that the underdog prevails, as shown with all of the upsets.
Watch for a small team such as Virginia Commonwealth Universityor St. Louis to make a deep run in the tournament. Some eternal powerhouse teams, such as UCLA and last year’s champion, Kentucky, have struggled this year.
After studying the teams, I feel that Georgetown has a terrific chance to make it far; they have one of the top defenses in the nation and are led by sophomore sensation Otto Porter Jr. Although G-town will likely make a run, my pick for the title is the Miami Hurricanes. The University of Miami has one of the best coaches in the country in Jim Larranaga, and they are led by many seniors with a lot of experience. This team surprised the ACC by winning the conference this year and now they may shock the country by winning the national championship.
