Renowned science teacher Dr. Terri Ravick has had many eventful school years here at WJ, from petitions to complaints, Dr. Ravick has been through it all. The time has come, however, for Dr. Ravick to put up her paws and continue on a different journey.

“The past ‘scandals’ were just because people had problems with the way I teach, their words would have some depth if their grades were actually good,” Dr. Ravick stated.

Being criticized by students isn’t the reason for her leaving though, Dr. Ravick is too tough-skinned to let the others win. The true reason for leaving is just because she wants to become a public speaker on how to protest correctly.

“She does more than people think she does,” a student said. “When I googled her, for no reason of course, I saw that she participated in some protests.”

With her experience being in and facing protests, Dr. Ravick has the ability to speak on it and get people’s attention. Her knowledge is beyond just science and her new chapter will show that to the world.

“Using one’s freedom of speech right is important in today’s atmosphere,” Dr. Ravick said. “I just know how to do it right, and people will listen.”

Her first speech is going to be about dealing with those who have conflicting opinions and what to do when the opposition won’t listen. In general, an average person would most likely walk away from a conversation once they realize they’re talking to a brick wall. But, those like Dr. Ravick will speak until heard, and talk until understood.

She will plan to use slides, just like in class to present her arguments. With this method, she expects the audience to take notes based on the slides while she speaks. If participants don’t bring their own notebooks, they will just have to sit and listen. Wearing her shirt with an R crossed out, she will perform her first speech in WJ on April 1.
