Coming off a week-long break due to inclement weather, the Cats had a strong lineup for the upcoming week. With three games in five days, the Cats had a lot of work to do but pulled off three consecutive wins improving their record to 9-4.
Starting the week with a 6-4 record, the Cats had the chance to build upwards. Two winnable games coming up helped to give them this opportunity.
In a rescheduled game on Monday, Jan. 22, the Cats faced the Paint Branch Panthers. Going into the game knowing the Cats had more wins under their belt than the Panthers, confidence was all around.
“We knew we needed to play to our standards and not play down to their level. We felt confident going in and used it as time to practice our game plans for the future, more competitive games,” senior captain Eliana Nastase said.
The Cats pulled out a 66-49 win, helping their record and their team’s nerves for future games.
The Cats immediately turned around to play the Einstein Titans the following day. On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Wildcats beat the Titans 62-37 helping their record even further.
The Titans came into the game with a 5-4 record, ready to take on the Wildcats. The Wildcats came in with a winning mindset after having a fresh 17-point difference win.
“I think we were prepared to play Einstein but it was definitely hard coming off of so many days of school off due to all the snow days. Everyone did a great job being prepared for both Paint Branch and Einstein in such a short amount of time,” senior captain Maggie Cullen-Ising said.
With two days before the next game, the Cats were rested and ready to play the Northwest Jaguars. Going into the game the Wildcats had a record of 8-4 and the Jaguars had a record of 1-5. The Cats ended on a high in their final game of the week, they beat the Jaguars 57-28.
