The girls’ varsity volleyball team has played a little over half of their regular season. The team is currently riding a three game winning streak as they have a record of 6-3-1. The season is now in full swing and they are preparing themselves for the backstretch of the season. Their next game will be home on October 10, as they welcome the Rockets of Richard Montgomery High School.
Over the last week or so, the varsity volleyball team has played two games. The first game was against Bethesda Chevy Chase High School on September 25. The girls lost 3-1.
Head Coach Tom Tepper responded to the loss. Tepper commented on how the team has to get their winning formula back.
“It was disappointing and not the result we wanted, we had to regroup and come back together as we prepared for Einstein,” Tepper said.
Then, last Wednesday the girls’ volleyball team went on the road and annihilated Einstein High School as they shut them out with a final score of 3-0. The Wildcats’ offense exploded onto the scene as they won the sets by scores of 25-15, 25-9, and 25-16. They didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal as they scored early and often.
When asked about the dominant win against Einstein, senior Nezzy Dittmer expressed her enthusiasm.
“It was a great bounce back team win. We played the way we know we can and it was a great effort all around,” Dittmer said.
Then, on October 3 the l team was at home to welcome the Cavaliers from John F. Kennedy High School. The Wildcats built off of the last game and dominated the Cavaliers 3-0.
For their next game, on October 5, the Wildcats traveled to Walt Whitman to take on the Vikings. It was a close one, but the Wildcats pulled out the win by a final score of 3-2.
Girls’ varsity volleyball now prepares for the second half of the season. They have three away games and three home games including the regular season finale at home. The Wildcats look to continue to make a push towards the postseason.
