WJ came into their matchup against the Churchill Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 19, with electricity and confidence, but the game didn’t end the way they had hoped. Senior quarterback Jake Forburger opened the scoring with a quarterback sneak into the endzone, putting the Wildcats on the board, 6-0. Churchill immediately responded by blocking the extra point, keeping the Wildcats one point shy of a perfect drive. The Wildcat defense couldn’t keep pace with the Bulldogs’ relentless offense, commanded by junior transfer quarterback Hunter Humphries. The Bulldogs were able to control the remainder of the game, winning the game 28-6.
The Wildcats took their shattered confidence to Wootton the following week. Taking a charging 14-point lead, the Wildcats held off a Patriot comeback to secure a 27-20 victory. The Wildcats will look to take their 2-2 record into tonight, as they face off against Seneca Valley at home in the Den.
