The bocce team is off to a slow start with a current record of 0-3. The team kicked off the season on Dec. 17 with a game against Richard Montgomery which they lost 0-2. Both teams traded points back and forth, and they were tied 3-3 at the start of the third frame. RM came out on top and walked away with the win. The team then went on to play Wootton on Jan. 4 and lost 0-2.
“Wootton was a strong opponent and we fought hard with some very close calls and throws but in the end Wootton was able to take the lead in both games to win,” coach Emilia O’Connor said in her post-game summary.
The team plays Whitman on Jan. 15 at home. Whitman is currently undefeated and has won their past five games, so it will be a tough game.
Despite their rough start, the team still has high hopes for their upcoming games.
“I want to win every game for the rest of the season,” freshman Kennon Chung said.
Senior Jomel Velasquez hopes to score some points for his team so they can win some games.
“We’ve been practicing and I want to score some points!” Velasquez said.
The team still has a handful of games coming up and they’ve been working hard at practice to make a comeback.
Bocce’s next game is on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m. at Winston Churchill.
