Now that spring sports are under way, many of WJ´s spring teams are excited for the upcoming season and what it holds for their teams. Two of these teams are coed volleyball and boys volleyball, both of which are looking forward to continuing their success from last season as they return many players from last year roster. The season looks bright with good outings in the preseason scrimmages.
While volleyball is not typically as popular a sport at WJ as others like football or basketball, the team is looking to change that with a successful season that could change the culture of the WJ volleyball. Both the coed and boys teams look to have success for the upcoming spring season and realize that they have very capable players who can help achieve this success. As a team, they just need to put it all together to have that culture changing season.
“We have always had good players, we just never played well as a team,” former senior volleyball player Laura Hurtado said.
The team has several scrimmages coming up that will be a great test for a team looking to see how they stack up against county competition.
“I am personally very excited about our upcoming scrimmages against Wheaton and Richard Montgomery which will be huge, to see how this season is going to play out and hopefully in a good way,” senior Joe Fischetti said.
This season is coming up fast and volleyball looks to finally have turned the corner. Hopefully students come out and show some support.
