Senior Hank Roll has been on WJ varsity basketball for three years and has improved his game each year. Roll is a team leader this year as a senior, and has been playing at a high level consistently throughout the season. Boys’ basketball has an impressive 10-4 record this season, a great improvement from last year’s 4-16 record.
Q: How did you get into playing basketball?
A: “I got into playing basketball because my dad loved basketball and taught me the game.”
Q:What is your favorite part of being on WJ basketball?
A: “My favorite part is playing in front of my friends and family.”
Q: How many years have you been on varsity? And how have you improved during that time?
A: “I have been on varsity for three years, and I have grown to be more of a leader and show better sportsmanship.”
Q: What is your role on the team this year as a senior?
A: “My role on the team is to lead the team in scoring, rebounds and assists.”
Q: How is this season different than last season for you? (With a new coach, new players, etc)
A: “This season is different than last season because our coach focuses on our defense and intensity a lot more this year. We are more cohesive as a team and win more games.”
Q: What are your goals for the rest of the season?
A: “My goal for the rest of the season is to win every other game.”
Q: Do you plan to continue playing basketball in college? Why or why not?
A: “I’m not sure yet if I plan to play in college yet. I may go straight to the league.”
Q:What advice do you have for people wanting to try out for basketball? A: “Work on conditioning and getting stronger”
Q: What do you like to do outside of basketball? A: “I like to read and hang with my friends”
