So really, where did all the time go?
I vividly remember starting a cross country workout after my first day of high school asking myself if it was true what people say about high school flying by. Four years later in the final weeks of my time at WJ I feel like that moment was just yesterday, and can now speak from experience that these years do go by fast.
When reflecting on these past four years, the advice that stands out to me the most is how important it is to get involved. High school is for experimentation. So join the club that interests you, try out for a sports team, audition for the musical and just go outside of your comfort zone to expose yourself to more people. I’m so thankful that I did.
By being a part of programs at WJ as special as cross country and The Pitch, I have learned the type of people whom I want to be surrounded by. Both The Pitch staff and members of the cross country team are very hardworking, enthusiastic and uplifting people. With that being said, the people make the place. This year it was hard being back in room 193 without Class of ‘24 Pitch graduates Cecilia, Audrey, Rachael, Nick and Torben. As I near the end of my senior year I know it will be just as difficult to say goodbye to all of the members of the 2025 Editorial Board, especially Seyun and Abby who have been by my side since kindergarten.
To the woman who makes The Pitch as incredible as it is, Mrs. Borrelli. Thank you. Thank you for always standing up for me, giving me a voice and making The Pitch so welcoming. The fact that I decided to take two periods of Pitch this year, and came twice a day last year to stop by during my yoga class speaks volumes about the type of environment you create in your classroom. You have made me into the person I am today and I cannot thank you enough.
Although this chapter of my life ending is very bittersweet, I could not be more excited and proud to continue my family’s legacy and attend Penn State in the fall. Like I’ve been saying the past couple of weeks, I went through 13 years of school just to end up at the place I was born to be. But I would not trade the ups and downs of my experience at WJ for the world.
