“Running Wilde,” which premiered Sept. 21 on Fox from the creators of “Arrested Development,” was an undeniable flop. “Running Wilde” chronicles the life of filthy rich man-boy Steven Wilde (Will Arnett), as he attempts to win back his childhood sweetheart, Emmy (Keri Russell), a humanitarian who spent most of her adult life protesting while living in the jungle. Opposites do attract, but these two characters are almost too polar to coexist. The plot is extremely predictable, and the attempts along the way at comic relief from interesting sidekicks with funny accents and mustaches come across as too stereotypical to enjoy. In the end, this new comedy is a good idea poorly executed. For those who are fans of alternative comedies with awkward humor, you may want to check out “Running Wilde,” but don’t expect anything ground-breaking.
