Up at Bat: What are your thoughts on the incident at Magruder and school safety?

“In my country, we don’t have those kinds of problems. I couldn’t believe something like that could happen here. I think the best way is to try to avoid problems. What else can I do? I have no choice but to go to school,” Julian Garcia, 12

“I think the most important thing we can do is ask every student to make sure they know that there is a trusted adult they can go to that they can and will agree to go to if they know of anyone who could get hurt. We also have to have more than one psychologist for 3,000 students. We’ve had so many mental health issues. We need more social services and psychological support in this school,” English teacher Sue Hartung said.

“After the Magruder incident, we had a PSA about abuse, but how does that relate to that incident? Perhaps, if they are to make another PSA, please make it a bit more relatable,” Ava Lantz, 9
