Students and teachers will face off Feb. 28 in a basketball game at Tilden Middle School. The proceeds raised from the event will contribute to the month-long Pennies for Patients fundraiser and is one of the last for this year’s campaign. Student team members were charged $10 to participate and admission to the game will be $5. Kendall Repetti, one of the leadership class members organizing the event, said while she does not know exactly how much money they expect to raise because this is the first time in a few years they have held the event, but they are hoping for a large turnout.
Teachers from all departments are gearing up to play for the cause including Jeremy Butler, Rebecca McGaffin, Mike Williams, Dennis Reynolds and Chris Murray. The event will also feature guest speakers from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, WJ Cheer, and games like musical chairs and knock out between each quarter of the game. A team of teacher poms will also be performing during half time at the event including Joanne Reynolds, Fred Delello and Erika Murray.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Repetti. “You’ll get to see both your fellow classmates and favorite teachers duke it out on the basketball court.”
