WJ sophomore Jaynie Chartrand was selected as a finalist in the fifth annual Lucerne “The Art of Dairy” contest, sponsored by Safeway, Inc. More than 9,000 students from across the United States participated and only 30 finalists were chosen. The contest involved painting an 8’x5′ cow sculpture using the theme of Taste of Moo-sic™. One grand prize winner will be chosen from the 30 finalists and the winning school will receive $20,000 for the school’s art department and both the student and the sponsoring art teacher will receive $5,000 each.
