The Rio: The Rio Lakefront has a myriad of attractions, from a movie theater to a bookstore, along with too many restaurants to count. This Valentine’s Day, take a painting class at Muse Paintbar and share a puff pastry at Corner Bakery.

DC Day: If you don’t mind the parking difficulties, consider driving to DC to take a stroll around the Washington Monument after your tour at the National Gallery of Art. Finish the day with dinner at a fancy dine-in restaurant of your choice. Filomena Ristorante is a great, intimate choice.

Under the Stars: If you want to stay local, go to the DC Party Box for a drive-in movie by Pike & Rose. Bring a picnic blanket and end the night under the stars in each other’s arms.

At Home: If driving anywhere isn’t your style, stay home and cook a tasty Italian meal. If you really want to spice it up (pun intended), have a contest! Both of you bake the same thing and judge which one turned out the best. Play Monopoly while you eat and then have a rom-com marathon.
