As the WJ Pennies 4 Patients season comes ends, so do all the events that WJ students have enjoyed in the past month. It was another successful P4P as students raised money and participated in fun games like ninja tag. As usual, ninja tag lasted several weeks as students planned and found their victims as they to were “under attack” by other players. Never the less, it was fun for all and helped benefit a good cause. Hopefully, it will be a staple for WJ activities for years to come.
This year, many felt the event was even more of a success, as students became even more competitive than years prior.
¨Yeah, it really was fun this year and great to see WJ students appreciating this event as they have for years before and hopefully for years to come,¨ WJ senior and leadership member Tony Coffey said.
The winner of the competition was sophomore Emma Pallulo, who had to tough out these two weeks against other students who wanted to win just as badly. Some were happy that she won because a sophomore wining illustrates how much of a school event this is, and how anyone can participate.
¨I was really happy that she won because it shows that any WJ class can participate and compete, which is what we want as a school,¨ senior and leadership member Jackson Miller said.
While the true success of the event depends on how many people enjoyed themselves and how many students participated, it appears that, as a school, WJ wants more people to come out and participate next year.
¨Yeah, as a freshman I [had] never heard of ninja tag, but after hearing about it from friends this year you best believe I’m coming out next year,¨ freshman Trey Martinez said.
The end of ninja tag shows marks another successful P4P season. Hopefully, it will continue to be a successful event in the future, and will continue to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
