Every Feb, Walter Johnson students look forward to the fun events that are held throughout the month to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Pennies 4 Patients month is known to include events such as Family Feud, Glo and WJ Dates. These events have proven to be popular over the years, attracting crowds and raising lots of money to support the LLS’s cause. This year, some new events are included in the regular Feb. line-up.
One of these events is Kids Night. Kids Night promises a night of fun for WJ cluster kids, and invites parents to drop their kids off at the WJ cafeteria instead of hiring a babysitter. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade will be able to watch a movie, eat pizza, and participate in face painting and more fun activities.
While Pennies for Patients events are usually only available to students at WJ, Kids Night sets itself apart from the rest of the month’s activities by allowing people who don’t go to WJ to participate. By spreading the fundraising opportunities to children and parents outside of the WJ community, Leadership gains further opportunities to raise more money and attention to the important cause.
Kids Night will be held on Feb.19 in the WJ cafeteria from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cost for parents is $20 per child at the door.
