Jamie Grimes teaches biology in addition to anatomy and physiology classes; this is his seventh year of teaching. Grimes is also in his ninth year of coaching of the WJ swim and dive team.
What are your interests outside of school?
JG: Outside of school I like to go to the beach, I like to read and I like to swim myself and I also coach.
Do you have a favorite television show or movie?
JG: [For] television shows, I like “Castle” and “NCIS” and “House.” [For] movies, [I like] “Star Wars” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.
What are some of your interesting or unique hobbies?
JG: Collecting cowboy boots. I wear them to school, yeah. [And] Sporcle.
Describe a typical Saturday.
JG: Either I wake up and go coach a swim meet, or I get to sleep in ’till the sun comes up. I basically go and veg out on the couch for a couple hours and then go out.
What is one thing that students may not know about you?
JG: My whole family is teachers. My mom, my dad, my sister, my aunt. I also went to the Olympic Trials and got fifth [place] in 2000 [in the 1500M freestyle].
What are things that you would like to accomplish in your lifetime?
JG: Get married, have kids and leave a lasting impact on peoples’ lives.
