The heavily anticipated “Wonka” movie could be “the golden ticket” to a cinematic masterpiece. Directed by filmmaker Paul King, “Wonka” delivers a new take on one of the most popular stories that has entertained multiple generations. Wonka was filmed in various locations such as, including Oxford, Bath, Lyme Regis, London, St. Albans and Mapledurham. In its first month, the film grossed $178.9 million in the United States and Canada, and $330.8 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $509.7 million.
Timothée Chalamet portrays the famous Willy Wonka chocolatier who becomes the center of attention.
Chalamet successfully brings the charming character to life in the movie once again. In the movie, it is evident that he fully embraced the qualities that define Willy Wonka. His performance captures the character perfectly, accepting the weird quirks and strangeness that Wonka has.
One of the best parts of the movie are the visual aspects. Paul King, who has also directed the “Paddington” films, brings his imaginative ideas to the chocolate factory. Throughout the film Wonka had vibrant colors, landscapes, and inspiring creations about himself that brought the audience into a world of imagination.
The movie has both the original style and vibe of the original “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” movie released in 1971. King uses his imagination to twist the new film and make it his own. This gives the movie a different perspective and point of view, I believe that it was a good take on the film and still similar to the original film.
The storytelling in the film inspires the audience to be creative and be an individual along with following your dreams. King makes the movie feel relatable.
The supporting cast additionally elevates the film, by creating a magical feel that the audience feels. The chemistry between Cahla Lane and Timothee Chalamet contributes to the film’s success, creating a very interesting and fun duo.
