On Oct. 13, Taylor Swift is set to release the tour documentary/movie of her world famous “The Eras Tour.” This tour-doc was in the works for months; ever since the first day the ‘Eras Tour’ hit the road, fans were anticipating Swift to release a tour documentary following her release of “Reputation World Tour” on Netflix. Fans all around have been patiently waiting for this film after cameras were spotted at the ‘Eras’ shows in Los Angeles, at SoFi Stadium.
The film’s release is being shown exclusively in theaters, and not on any streaming services as of yet. This is different compared to her other tour films or documentaries which have been streamed exclusively on streaming services. Fans are speculating that this change is because, as many people know, the process to get tickets to the ‘Eras Tour’ was a challenge, and the film being streamed in theaters allows fans who didn’t get to experience the concert in person to have the chance to experience it in film.
Sophomore Sasha Rotton expressed her excitement about the film. “I literally cannot wait. I’m so excited. I’m most excited to see high quality videos of the tour because I didn’t get to in person,” Rotton said.
The ‘Eras Tour’ film is being turned into an event by “Swifties” rather than just a regular movie screening. Similar to the “Barbie” movie where people would dress up in pink to watch the film, fans are encouraged to come in outfits similar to the outfits fans would wear at the ‘Eras Tour.’ Swift is encouraging her fans to treat this film as if it’s the ‘Eras Tour’, by sharing to fans that they should make and trade friendship bracelets and sing along to different concert chants. Because of this, the movie is becoming more and more anticipated than ever before. It’s predicted that this movie will have the same amount of success, if not a larger amount, compared to the ‘Barbie’ movie because of how much hype this movie is getting.
“I might see it and I think if I do go, I want to wear something from my heart Taylor album because it is the most iconic,” junior Besta Tsegaye said.
Knowing Swift, the movie ought to be an outstanding one, with the quality of the performances being top-notch. One of the most exciting things will be seeing which surprise songs will be included in this film. The songs that were recorded during the Los Angeles shows were, “I Can See You”, “Maroon”, “Our Song”, “You Are in Love”, “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “You’re on Your Own, Kid.” Having all of these amazing songs as surprise ones makes it even more intriguing to see which ones were included in the final cut. This tour doc is looking to be one for the books.
