Beyonce’s song “Freedom” from the album Lemonade came out with a music video on October 11, featuring girls from around the world highlighting the challenges they face. Many people found the video powerful and inspirational.
“After watching the video I felt very empowered, and so proud of my gender and how amazing girls are,” junior Sarah Epstein said.
The video came out in honor of the “International Day of the Girl.” It was directed by MJ Delaney and premiered at “Goalkeepers,” a party hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Since the music video was released it has gotten a lot of buzz. Beyoncé has been constantly promoting the video on her social media.
“Support girls around the world to realize their dreams,” Beyoncé tweeted.
The video incorporates girls around the world lip syncing and dancing to the song “Freedom.” In the middle of the video, it lists alarming facts of the reality of girls’ lives around the world.
