As homecoming comes and goes, wacky outfits and creative ideas for representing school spirit emerge. From simpler spirit days, such as America Day, to crazier ones, like Wacky Wednesday, students go full out.
One of those students is sophomore Tara Tanasovich who, especially on Wacky Wednesday, went crazy to support WJ.
“[Doing spirit] is fun,” said Tanasovich. “I don’t understand why people don’t do it.”
Tanasovich accentuated her idea of wacky by wearing pink sequin harem pants, mismatched socks, a crazy hat, gloves and a striped cardigan.
Tanasovich took advantage of the one week where students could dress absurdly and not be looked at sideways. Granted, she was laughed at while participating, Tanasovich didn’t care.
“I like doing [spirit] with friends, because then we all look ridiculous together,” she said.
Ridiculous is in now, though. Student participation in spirit for the week of homecoming has been up, at least compared to last year.
Whether it’s a simple denim headband or a full-on flapper costume, it’s nice to see students supporting their school.
